Paul Reed Smith and many talented PRS artists performed during the Dallas International Guitar Show April 15 – 17. PRS’s groundbreaking Quest for Tone series returned for a second year, giving an up close and personal experience to guests intrigued by PRS’s versatile and innovative new instruments, including the new 2-Channel “H” amp and Tonare Grand acoustic, while offering “ear opening” comparisons between PRS and what many consider to be the Holy Grail instruments of our time. Cody Kilby, a guitarist hailed by Ricky Skaggs for playing some of the best guitar solos in bluegrass music, soulful up-and-coming bluesman Davy Knowles, local favorite Bugs Henderson, Nicky Moroch, Kirby Kelley, Jr. Clark, Doug Sewell, and Michael Ault were among the multi-talented PRS musicians and clinicians on hand to raise the roof down south.

His new signature model, the SE Fredrik Åkesson, is being unveiled in Frankfurt, Germany during the Musikmesse 2011, April 6 – 9. Model features include a single cutaway maple top with quilted maple veneer and thick mahogany back, a 24.5” scale length, 22 fret wide fat mahogany neck with ebony fretboard and PRS bird inlays, and a Tone Pros adjustable stoptail bridge. Forntida Brun, Swedish for “Ancient Brown,” is the exclusive finish option for Åkesson’s signature model electric guitar.

PRS Guitars is happy to announce the launch of its custom amp program at this years Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California. Lead by former Texas-based architect turned amplifier builder Doug Sewell, the program allows customers to work intimately with their dealer and the PRS amp team to create the most personalized amps ever offered by PRS. Amplifiers can be built with specialized colors, speakers and components and can even bring discontinued models back to life.

PRS recently visited Anaheim, California to attend the 2011 NAMM show (National Association of Music Merchants), the largest tradeshow of its kind in the world. Many of our artists came out to support us at the show, and we were able to sit down with some of them to talk about new developments in PRS’s acoustic, amplifier, and, of course, electric guitar lines.
