How It's Made: The SE Standard 24 Multi-Foil Finish

The unique Multi-Foil finish made its PRS debut in the late 80's when it was then referred to as the "Multi Metal" finish. Starting in 1988, we released them in small batches to the world.

The popularization of this finish was aided by Gustavo Cerati, one of Latin America's most celebrated musicians. Gustavo played a Multi-Metal finish as the lead singer of Argentinian rock band, Soda Stereo.
In a nod to the past, we re-released this special finish as a part of our 2018 SE lineup. As you can see in the video below, the process to create the Multi-Foil finish is not a simple one, and requires layers of careful spraying with an artistic eye.
Once the guitar gets its final topcoat and buff, it moves over to final assembly where the hardware and electronics are outfitted. The SE Standard 24 Multi-Foil sports two 85/15 “S” humbuckers and a 3-way blade switch with push/pull tone control.
