PRS: Who are some of the blues guitarists that have had the biggest impact on your own playing?

Mathias: There are many, but the biggest blues guitarists for me would be B.B. King, Albert Collins, Albert King, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Milton Hopkins, and Robert Cray. These artists stand out to me the most because when you hear the first note you just know who it is. They were extremely distinct. That kind of individuality was what I’ve always wanted to achieve.

PRS: Who are some of your favorite artists that fall outside of the blues genre?

Mathias: I’ve certainly always favored rhythm players. Players like Wes Montgomery, Isaiah Sharkey, and Jubu Smith. The way they tastefully move through songs really makes it feel like you’re listening to true art.

PRS: Can you recall when and where you first encountered the PRS brand, and do you remember your first experience playing one?

Mathias: I truly recall it like it was yesterday. I was 13 years old and happened to pick up a Trampas Green PRS CE 24 for the first time ever and vividly remember it being so effortless to play. That kind of ease allowed me to play freely and that really stuck with me and spoke to me about how PRS guitars are made.

PRS: What do you love the most about your PRS guitars in general?

Mathias: The thing I love about my PRS guitar is that I can play any genre and the instrument just fits. Because my style of music combines many styles, my CE allows me to achieve all the tones I want at the drop of a hat.

PRS: Can we anticipate any new releases from you in the near future? Perhaps a follow-up to 2023’s Up Next?

Mathias: Absolutely, I am always working on new projects and new music. But there is certainly new music on the way to follow my first album. I’m tirelessly working to write songs and create music that I believe in. My new album will be nothing short of that.
