Philadelphia native Curt Chambers is an acclaimed guitarist, singer-songwriter and producer. A Grammy-winning musician, he is well known for his comfort across many genres ranging from rock and hip hop to country and soul. As a world touring guitarist, Curt has collaborated with huge names including Jay-Z, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Jerry Douglas. As a solo artist, Curt is signed with WME, with whom he’s released an EP and a steady stream of singles.

PRS: What do you love the most about your PRS guitars in general?

Curt: What I love most about my PRS guitars are the versatility in tone. I generally love a good humbucker neck pickup for the thickness and obviously a rocking humbucker bridge pickup. But depending on the genre or if I want to get buttery, I like to have a neck single coil that doesn’t drop in volume but gives me all the sweet butter tones that I’m looking for.

PRS: Do you remember the first time you played a PRS? What was the first model you encountered?

Curt: The first PRS model I played was a 513. I have never heard so many different tones before. I recorded a whole album with it in a week. The album was called ONE WAY TICKET, a solo album. Recorded it right before I did Coachella with Dr Dre and Eminem.

PRS: You’ve shared the stage with a wide range of artists. Is there anything you’ve learned that has been universally valuable across all these experiences?

Curt: I have shared the stage with a wide variety of artists and my most valuable lesson learned is to play the best supporting role that you can.

PRS: You recently collaborated with T-Pain in support of his On Top of the Covers album, how did that opportunity come about?

Curt: The opportunity to work with T-Pain came from a good friend of mine named Rodney Jones from Chicago. He called me while I was in the supermarket in Nashville. Asked me where was and I said wherever I need to be you tell me.

PRS: Do you have any unique pre-performance rituals, or perhaps a certain piece of gear that must be present at every gig or recording session?

Curt: My pre-performance rituals are normally to listen to some music that puts me in their mind frame to take advantage of this moment, because this is my shot.

PRS: Are you currently working any new projects that we should be keeping an eye out for?

Curt: I am currently recording a new solo project. So please look out for that, it’s going to be some incredible guitar work on there.
