Tone Shaping Articulation

"The DG Custom 30 is the culmination of a three year collaboration between myself and Doug Sewell. After extensive designing, redesigning, and repeated comparisons to the amps I have cherry picked over the years, we have come up with an amp that would rival the best of my vintage amps. Equally well-suited to both live situations and studio work, this amp is far from a knockoff. I am blown away. I'm hopeful that other players will find it as inspiring and musical as I do." – David Grissom

Developed and refined over many years, the PRS David Grissom signature DG Custom 30 amp brings Grissom’s discriminating tone to players looking for a highly-responsive, musical amp rig. The PRS “DG Custom 30” comes in blonde vinyl with a cherry stained mahogany fascia and un-tinted salt and pepper grill cloth. It features four EL84/7581 power tubes and several tone-sculpting features, including bright switch, reverb, boost/normal gain switch, presence control, and top cut control.

Controls

PRE-AMP SECTION

Volume/Master Volume
The Volume control regulates the volume or loudness of the amp. It also increases the amp’s distortion as you turn it up. The Master can be used in combination with the Volume to generate preamp distortion at a lower volume.
T/M/B Tonestack
This amp has a 3-band EQ, so you can use the Treble, Middle, and Bass controls to dial in your desired tone.
Boost Control
This amp also features a boost switch on the back panel, which helps the amp reach that edge of break up sound with increased drive and punch giving you a rich and full tone without a pedal.
Bright Switch
The Bright Switch allows more high-end frequencies to come through, making the tone brighter. The intent here is to put some “shine” on the tone without it becoming harsh.

ADDITIONAL CONTROL(S)

Reverb
The DG Custom 30 features 3-spring Reverb for a more natural ambience from subtle to surf. The Reverb circuit is voiced to enhance notes by adding depth, color, and liveliness without clouding the original/un-effected tone.
Top Cut
The Top Cut control allows you to remove unwanted sharp treble tones through phase-canceling. This control is on the DG Custom’s back panel.
Presence
Think of this as a high treble boost. Presence allows you to dial in high-mids and treble. As those are increased, the amp’s tone is brought forward. Depending on the tone stack and volume settings, the presence can change the gain/texture and loudness of the high-end, making your tone more 3-dimensional (or more “present”). Located on back panel.
